Henderson EV Charger Installation Cost — 2026 Breakdown

Every install quoted by Henderson EV Charger Pros is itemized line-by-line. The numbers below reflect real Henderson installs performed under City of Henderson permits over the past 18 months. NEC Article 625 governs all EV supply equipment, and every estimate accounts for continuous-load derating, GFCI protection, and disconnect requirements specific to Clark County.

Tier 1 — Basic NEMA 14-50 Outlet Install

$649 – $899

The most cost-effective Level 2 option for Henderson homeowners with a panel located in the garage and 40 amps of free capacity. A NEMA 14-50 is a 240-volt receptacle rated for 50 amps continuous, paired with a 50-amp double-pole breaker. It powers any Level 2 EVSE that ships with a 14-50 plug (Tesla Mobile Connector with the 14-50 adapter, Grizzl-E, Lectron, etc.).

Line items included:

  • • Hubbell or Leviton industrial-grade 14-50R receptacle ($45–$85)
  • • 50A 2-pole breaker (Square D QO, Eaton CH, or Siemens QP)
  • • Up to 25 ft of 6/3 NM-B or 6 AWG THHN in EMT
  • • Weatherproof in-use cover if exterior
  • • City of Henderson DSC permit + final inspection
  • • Labor (2 licensed electricians, 3–4 hours)

Best for:

  • • Drivers staying with their factory mobile connector
  • • Renters who want a portable solution
  • • Garages within 25 ft of the main panel
  • • Existing 200A panel with 40A of headroom

Tier 2 — Standard Hardwired Level 2 (40–48A)

$899 – $1,499

Our most-installed configuration across Henderson, Green Valley, and Anthem. A hardwired 48-amp Level 2 unit delivers 11.5 kW — about 35 miles of range per hour for most EVs. Hardwiring (vs plug-in) is required by NEC 625.42 for any continuous current over 40 A, and it eliminates the GFCI nuisance-trip issues common to plug-in installs.

Line items included:

  • • 60A 2-pole breaker (continuous-load derated)
  • • 6 AWG copper THHN in 3/4" EMT
  • • Up to 35 ft of conduit run from panel
  • • Weatherproof junction box at the EVSE
  • • Manufacturer-spec torque on all terminations
  • • Henderson permit + electrical inspection
  • • Wi-Fi commissioning + app setup
  • • 5-year workmanship warranty

Compatible units:

  • • ChargePoint Home Flex
  • • Wallbox Pulsar Plus 48A
  • • Emporia EV Charger
  • • JuiceBox 48 Pro
  • • Enphase IQ EV Charger 2

Tier 3 — Premium Tesla Wall Connector / Multi-Vehicle

$1,199 – $1,899

The Tesla Wall Connector Gen 3 delivers up to 48A on a 60A circuit and supports load-sharing across up to six units. For two-EV Henderson households (very common in MacDonald Highlands and Anthem), we configure load-sharing so both vehicles can share a single 60A or 100A feeder without tripping. We are a Tesla-recommended installer and follow the published Tesla installation specification including the required 1-inch clearance and dedicated neutral when used with the J1772 adapter for non-Tesla vehicles.

Line items included:

  • • Tesla Wall Connector Gen 3 (white or black faceplate)
  • • 60A 2-pole breaker, factory-torque verified
  • • 6 AWG copper THHN or 4 AWG aluminum SER
  • • Load-sharing config (up to 6 units, RJ-45 daisy-chain)
  • • Up to 35 ft conduit run, interior or exterior
  • • Stucco patch + paint-touch-up if exterior penetration
  • • Final inspection + 5-year workmanship warranty

Add-ons available:

  • • Second Wall Connector (+$799 with load-share)
  • • 24kA SPD whole-home surge protection (+$295)
  • • Generac PWRcell battery integration (+$1,499)
  • • Tesla Powerwall load-share commissioning (+$349)

What Drives the Price Up or Down

Two Henderson homes a mile apart can have install costs that differ by $1,500 because of how the panel was originally built and where the homeowner parks. Here are the cost factors we evaluate during every site survey.

Distance from panel to charger ($35–$60 per added foot)

Every foot of conduit past the first 25 ft adds materials (6 AWG copper, EMT, fittings) plus labor for the run. On homes built before 2005 in older Henderson neighborhoods like Mission Hills or Whitney Ranch, panels are often on the opposite side of the garage and runs can hit 60 ft. Voltage drop also becomes a concern past 75 ft — we may upsize to 4 AWG to stay within the NEC-recommended 3% drop on a 240V branch circuit.

Conduit type: EMT vs PVC vs flex ($45–$220 difference)

Exposed exterior runs in Henderson must use EMT or schedule-40 PVC per local interpretation of NEC 352 and 358. Interior runs inside a garage can use NM-B (Romex) if concealed in the wall, or flexible non-metallic conduit if exposed. We never use outdoor-rated flex (LFNC) for full exterior runs in summer — Henderson rooftop temps exceed the 75°C insulation rating of common THHN by mid-July.

Drywall repair ($95–$385)

If the panel is on a finished interior wall and the charger needs to go on the opposite side of the garage, we either run conduit through the attic (cleaner, +$185) or open a drywall channel (cheaper run but +$95–$385 for patch, texture-match, and paint). Henderson stucco exterior penetrations add $145 per penetration for proper flashing and color-match patch.

Panel upgrade ($2,499–$4,200)

Homes built before 1995 in Pittman, Townsite, or downtown Henderson frequently have 100A or 125A service that cannot accept a 60A EV circuit without a load calculation upgrade or full service replacement. NV Energy must coordinate the meter pull, which adds 5–10 business days but no direct charge to the homeowner. A 200A upgrade including a new meter base, ground rod, and main breaker runs $2,499 standard, $3,400+ if the service drop also needs to be replaced.

Trenching for detached garages ($18–$32 per linear foot)

Detached garages — common in Inspirada custom lots and older Boulder Highway properties — require a buried feeder per NEC 300.5. Burial depth in Henderson is 24" for direct-buried cable or 18" in rigid conduit. We rent a Ditch Witch for runs over 30 ft and trench at $18–$32 per linear foot depending on whether the path is grass, decomposed granite, or finished concrete (concrete cut/patch adds ~$45/ft).

Permit + inspection fees ($85–$160)

The City of Henderson Development Services Center (DSC) charges $85 for a residential electrical permit covering a single branch circuit, scaling to $135–$160 if the work includes a service upgrade or sub-panel. Inspection is included with the permit. We pull permits in your name (required by NRS 624 for any owner-occupied work), so the inspection record is tied to the property — useful at resale.

DIY vs Licensed Installer — Real Cost Comparison

Homeowners often look at YouTube tutorials and assume they can save $700 by installing a NEMA 14-50 themselves. Here is what actually happens when we compare both paths through the lens of Henderson code enforcement and homeowner insurance.

FactorDIY PathLicensed Installer
Hard parts cost$220 – $380Included in quote
Tools you may not own$140+ (torque wrench, fish tape, wire stripper, multimeter)Included

Time investment8–14 hours plus permit office visits3–4 hours, you don't lift a tool
Homeowner insurance impactMost NV policies require licensed work for any 240V circuit — fire claim may be deniedInsurable, license + COI on file

Warranty if something failsYou troubleshoot at midnight5-year workmanship + manufacturer
Realistic total cost$520–$780 + your time + insurance risk$899 turnkey, fully insurable

The honest take: if you have a panel in the garage, an open breaker slot, and 240V experience, a NEMA 14-50 DIY can save $300–$400. For anything involving a panel upgrade, hardwired 48A circuit, exterior penetration, or load-sharing, the labor savings disappear into permit re-inspection fees and insurance exposure. We'll tell you straight if your job is a DIY candidate — Mike Reynolds, NV License #0087341.

Hidden Costs to Watch For From Cheaper Contractors

When a competitor quotes $499 for a Henderson Level 2 install, one or more of these things is missing. We list them so you can ask the right questions of anyone else you call.

No permit pulled

Saves the contractor $85 + a half-day. Costs you at resale (NRS 113 disclosure) and voids your insurance if there's a fire.

Romex used on exterior runs

NM-B is not rated for sun exposure. It cracks in 18 months of Henderson UV. Code requires THHN-in-conduit or UF-B direct-bury for exterior.

Undersized wire for a 48A continuous load

Some contractors use 8 AWG on a 50A breaker — fine for a dryer (30A continuous), not for a charger that draws 40A for 8 hours straight. The breaker doesn't trip; the wire just runs hot for years until insulation fails.

Plug-in install on a 48A unit

NEC 625.42 requires hardwiring above 40A continuous. Plug-in is faster to install but technically code-violating for the higher-amp units.

Plastic-bodied receptacle

A $9 residential-grade NEMA 14-50 from a big-box store is rated for ~50 plug cycles. Industrial Hubbell or Bryant ($45+) lasts 5,000+ cycles. The cheap receptacle is the #1 reason for arc-fault burn marks on EV plugs.

No torque verification

EV continuous loads expose under-torqued lugs within 6 months. Manufacturers spec 35–45 in-lbs on a 14-50 receptacle. Without a torque wrench, you're guessing.

GFCI on a hardwired install

Unnecessary for hardwired EVSE (the unit has internal GFCI per UL 2231-2). Adding an external GFCI breaker causes nuisance trips and adds $75 to the bill for nothing.
